Last week in ISM was a bit of a slow week, especially due to the two snow days that we had on Thursday and Friday. However, I was still able to have a relatively productive week to brainstorm and gather some basic information that will help me for my final product. For my eleventh research assessment, I decided to focus on the new coming trends in the music industry for this year, 2022, in a national context, different from the multiple sources I have looked at in the past that discussed trends of previous years. I wanted to conduct more research on future predictions made by an expert that will shape how the music business industry will look like from now and so on. This way, I could incorporate the trends that were predicted by a professional into my final product, making it more appealing and "stylish" for the younger generations, who are my main target audience. An interesting information that I found was that many music industry professionals are predicting the return of live concerts and compact discs among the older audiences. The increase of live concerts has already been seen earlier this year. Even with the new variant, people have been vaccinated and less concerned about the pandemic. They have been going out and enjoying their “normal” lives which is why I believe these predictions are accurate for the most part. If I could find a way to make live tours and in-person concerts as part of my marketing plan, it would reflect my knowledge on the topic of music business and display my research skills. For this week, I am hoping to complete my second mentor visit, and discuss in more detail about my possible final product candidates.
