Last Wednesday was THE day that I have been waiting for for such a long time. I had my first research interview with a professional! I was able to meet with Mr. Hunter at a cafe in Dallas during my second period ISM class. I was really nervous all morning, so I read over my resumé and interview questions all the way during the car ride to the cafe. I was dressed in my professional suit, and that somehow made me feel more prepared and ready. Mr. Hunter was extremely kind and gave me tons of advice relating to what I should be doing to prepare myself for the future if I want a career in music, and how I should reach out to people to make more connections. It was honestly one of the most valuable hour of my life. I gained an entirely new perspective about my topic and realized that I should look at my chosen career path from a wider angle. Previously to the interview, I wanted to focus more on the production aspect of music. However, after my interview with Mr. Hunter, I realized that I want to put my main focus on the music business sector rather than production. I asked myself, "Do I really want to create my own music? Or do I want to work along with music?" The answer was the latter. Therefore, for my original work, rather than making my own music, I want to start a project where I work WITH music. I am absolutely sure about wanting to work in the music industry, and I want to influence and change the flow of the industry for the future. My goal this week is to get a good grasp of what my first big project of ISM will be, and make sure that it is something that I am passionate about, so that I can dedicate my time and effort into creating the best work that I can. Although I am a little bit stressed, I know that I will push my way through for success. I am really excited for the project that I will be taking on, and I hope that it will help me grow as a person and as a young professional.
