Anxious Phone Calls - #4

Last week was probably the most action-packed week of my ISM journey. I scheduled my first interview with a professional! I have been extremely anxious about connecting with professionals these past few weeks because nobody really responded to my messages. Because it was hard to find available professionals solely by myself, I went through Coach Goff's connections and was able to connect with a few people that were glad to help my research. I was anxious even to just make a phone call to schedule my interview, so when my phone rang, I panicked. I usually do not enjoy phone calls because it is hard to think through my words, but I managed my way through and was able to earn better communication skills just from this short five minute phone call. It was a real life experience of a professional interview set-up, and it made me feel as if I grew as a person just by spending a few minutes on the phone. When I was done, I was very proud of myself. It felt like getting rid of a burden that I have been carrying since the first week of ISM. Since then, everything went kind of fast. I was able to connect with a second professional and now I am waiting for a response. Isn't that insane? Just one week ago I was struggling to find a professional to interview, and now I am getting prepared for my first one that is in only two days! In addition, for this week's research assessment, I dived into details about interactive music platforms. I wanted to gain a better understanding about the music business and communication aspect of the industry just as well as production. I learned that interactive platforms require a whole new set of methods in creating music, and that in the future we might see more of interactive remixes in our daily lives. Some questions that popped up in my mind this week were, "what type of questions should I ask in the interview that would allow me to learn the most?" and "how should I word my questions in a more effective way?" For this week, I want to make sure that I finish my first interview successfully and to possibly set up my second interview as well. I am so glad that things are finally moving along in my direction in ISM, and I am genuinely so excited for all the opportunities that will be waiting for me in the next few weeks.
