Another Interview! - #10

Last Wednesday afternoon, I had my third research interview with Kristen Martin, who is the Creative Project Manager and the Radio Producer of Music Audience Exchange. Unlike my last two interviews where I placed my focus on the music industry, I wanted to get a general overview of the creative industry as a whole through my interview with Ms. Martin this time. Some questions that I had in mind for her were also mostly about the business aspect of the industry, such as the necessary skills that I need in marketing and questions about topics such as client management and brand building. I was able to personally connect with Ms. Martin due to our common experiences in Broadcast. Broadcast was what naturally got her into the creative industry, as it did for me earlier in my high school years when I took a couple of media classes where I developed my interest in this career field. I was able to gain a better knowledge on the logistical side of music business since Ms. Martin is the director that makes higher level decisions in her company. Not only this, but she was also generous enough to connect me with another professional from her company who specifically focuses on the music industry. I was told that she is the artist relations manager, so she will be a great help for me since I am specially focusing on the topic of Music Business. This week I am planning to set up another interview with the professional that Ms. Martin connected me with, and possibly start reflecting on my past interviews for a mentor. I will continue to plan out my original work also, so I hope this week can be another productive week of my ISM journey.
